WARPED TRUTH
Warped truth is an activist runway collection, initially inspired by the Yorkshire Ripper. However through research I began to realise that the women actually got a lot of the blame for what they were wearing. Encouraging me to create a collection, giving women social justice and hopefully allowing them to feel less alone and speak up.
I decided to create an activist runway collection with three categories:
1- crime to bring the shock factor
2- the emotions women go through
3- campaign
Collaboration with Safeline
So excited to say I have been collaborating with the charity Safeline to create the design for these products to raise awareness for sexual violence and raise funds for their non profit charity to help #breakthesilence around recovery and help to encourage people to speak up
T-shirts and bags can all be bought on here https://rdbl.co/45ch63N which is such an important and amazing cause
CRIME
SECTION 1
The main purpose of the crime collection is to really entice the audience in and help to build up the narrative of the story displayed through runway.
EMOTIONS
SECTION 2
The main purpose for the emotion's side of it is to really get people to relate to the feelings in an expressive way, using the female body, facial expressions and art therapy.
To build my colour palette I created surveys to see what colours people associate with different moods.
CAMPAIGN
SECTION 3
For this project it has been really important for me to help make a difference and really help people to speak out and not suffer in silence. I have been working with the charity Safeline to gain legitimacy and enabling me to approach this sensitve topic in the most appropriate way, providing me with case studies and valuable research.
I decided as I am creating an activist collection I needed to push it as far as I can and was lucky enough to be invited to talk on NottsTv about my work, and am also creating a documentary with Safeline about how my work can be used to help people linking to art therapy.
